1. Course Description

Webstart is a web design course for beginners that leads to a fully recognised qualification and earns you learning credits towards further training. It is an interesting and rewarding course that can start you on the road to a new career in web design. The course is jargon free and teaches you the basics of web design in step-by-step easy to understand stages.

By the end of the course you will have the confidence and ability to create professional standard websites for small businesses / organisations, clubs, charities etc. You will also be in an ideal position to undertake further, more advanced training in one of the more specialist areas.

 

2. Course Structure

Webstart is 100% distance learning. You can study when you want, where you want, at your own pace. There are no exams, essays or deadlines. During the course you simply complete 10 assignments for submission to your tutors. You have a maximum of 12 months to complete the course.

The course is split into two sections. In Section One you learn the basic skills of web design. Section Two brings you up to date with the latest web design techniques.

3. Course Materials

Webstart is a paper-based course consisting of almost 300 pages of lessons.

You also receive a CD-ROM containing a selection of software and throughout the course you are guided to download free trials of web design tools and applications.

Any updates to the course materials are sent to you free of charge or posted on the course support website.

 
 

4. Support

Throughout the course (for a maximum of 12 months) you have a personal tutor. Your tutor is a practising web designer and offers you unlimited support via email 7 days a week. He or She is there to answer your questions and give advice on how you can complete the course successfully.

In addition to this there is a course support website which features:

  • Information and Ideas relating to all aspects of web design.
